Is Genetic engineering Good or bad?
1. Introduction to Genetic engineering
First, before discussing Genetic engineering, you’ll need to know what it is. Genetic engineering, also known as genetic modification or genetic manipulation, uses laboratory-based technologies to alter the DNA makeup of an organism.
Now that you know what’s genetic engineering, it’s time to discuss whether it’s good or bad. Genetic engineering can be done to modify many things some can be as small and harmless as reducing or removing the amount of seeds in a fruit, while some can be as harmful as Squandering Valuable Pest Susceptibility Genes. Another thing is it can also be done on humans which many deem unethical, and other than that with the high risks of genetic engineering it becomes like a double-edged sword, you might get something that can improve your life slightly or enhance your body, but there are potential risks that could include certain types of cancer, allergic reactions, or damage to organs or tissues. And those risks aren’t worth taking, it’s a high-risk low-reward type of situation.
2. Our view on this topic
I view genetic engineering as a risk, it’s a process that needs to be studied more to eliminate the risks of harm it may cause. It could be used for good but currently, it’s more harmful than helpful.
